Even as someone who tends to gravitate to shoes with a bit more a of a stripped down aesthetic, I nonetheless welcome the cushioning innovation of having the entire shoe covered in Asics's signature gel for how it emphasizes that shock absorption and design should be serving, above all else, comfort. But revisit some of the shoes of the past with similar intentions and notice how clunky or uncoordinated some of the pieces, like the upper or weight, could fit together. Here with with the strategic cushioning those are an afterthought (or forgotten thought?) that make uncomfortable shoes a distant memory. And the constructed Solyte midsole broadens the appeal for whom a high cushioning shoe was once thought to be made. The comfort is obvious and essential. But it's gained a new designation as a training shoe, daily training even.
