Traction Aid
Get a grip on snow and ice with traction aids made for your winter run.
They’re slip‑on devices with metal spikes or rubber studs that attach to your shoes to improve grip on ice and packed snow. They help prevent slipping so you can run more confidently in winter conditions.
Use them when sidewalks, trails, or roads are icy or hard‑packed enough that your normal running shoes can’t grip well. They’re especially useful during freeze–thaw cycles when surfaces become unpredictably slick.
They add a bit of weight and stiffness, but most runners adjust quickly. On ice, they make your stride feel more stable and controlled, reducing the need for tiny balance corrections.
It’s better to avoid it because the metal or rubber studs can wear down quickly and feel uncomfortable. Short stretches are fine, but remove them if most of your route is clear.
They fit most road and trail shoes, but very minimal or heavily cushioned shoes may feel different with them attached. Make sure the fit is snug so they don’t shift while you run.
