Hydration
Take on any run with lightweight, functional gear designed to keep you hydrated and performing at your best.
Match your gear to your distance and conditions. Handhelds work well for up to an hour. Belts offer more storage and stability for mid‑range runs. Vests or packs are best for long distances, trail running, or when you need to carry nutrition, layers, or safety gear.
A properly fitted belt or vest should stay secure with minimal movement. Look for adjustable straps, ergonomic designs, and soft materials that contour to your body. If you’re between sizes, sizing down often provides a more stable fit.
One simple trick that helps reduce sloshing in soft flasks and bladders, is to remove extra air from the hydration bladder before sealing it. When the reservoir is filled and gently squeezed to push out excess air, the water has less room to move around, which keeps the pack more stable and reduces that “sloshing” sensation on the run.
Most vests hold between 1–2 litres in a reservoir plus additional soft flasks in the front pockets. This gives runners flexibility to carry enough water for long training sessions, races, or hot‑weather runs.
Modern hydration vests use lightweight, moisture‑wicking fabrics and mesh panels to keep airflow high. They’re designed to sit close to the body without chafing, even during multi‑hour efforts.
Yes, most belts and vests include extra pockets which can be used for gels, chews, phones, keys, etc.
Rinse after every use and let them fully air‑dry. For deeper cleaning, use mild soap or reservoir cleaning tablets. Keeping the bladder open while drying helps prevent odours and mold.
